The Blake Doyle Skatepark in Pensacola, Florida, officially opened in May 2023. Located at Hollice T. Williams Park, the skatepark spans 25,000 square feet and features areas for skaters of all skill levels, including a beginner section, a multi-level skate plaza, and two skate bowls. The park is part of a broader redevelopment project for the area beneath Interstate 110, aimed at transforming a previously neglected space into a vibrant community hub.
The skatepark was designed by Pivot Custom and constructed by Evergreen Skateparks. The project was initiated by Upward Intuition, a local nonprofit founded by Jon Shell, which spearheaded the campaign to bring a modern skatepark to Pensacola. Funding for the skatepark came from various sources, including the City of Pensacola’s Local Option Sales Tax, private donors, and the American Rescue Plan Act. Additionally, a significant grant from the Gannett Foundation helped fund the beginner area.
The Blake Doyle Skatepark has already hosted events, including a grand opening celebration with live music, food vendors, and small skateboarding competitions. Future plans for the park include hosting professional skate events and community-oriented activities.
