The Candelaria Skatepark, located in the town of Candelaria on Tenerife in the Canary Islands, is a significant addition to the local community's recreational facilities. The project was initiated to meet the growing demand for diverse outdoor sports amenities and to promote healthy lifestyles among the youth. Construction of the skatepark commenced in September 2024, following the official groundbreaking. The facility is situated adjacent to the Bruno Alberto Sabina football field on José Rodríguez Ramírez Street. The design includes a bowl area that integrates seamlessly with the surrounding landscape, reflecting a commitment to inclusive urban planning. The project was developed with input from local residents and skaters to ensure it meets the community's needs and preferences. The total investment for the skatepark is €264,236.50, funded through a collaboration between the Candelaria Town Council and the Cabildo Insular de Tenerife. The Town Council contributed approximately 47% (€123,676.50), while the Cabildo provided 53% (€140,560). The project faced budget adjustments due to rising construction material costs, leading the Town Council to allocate additional resources to ensure its completion.
The skatepark's design and construction were overseen by architect Daniel Yábar Ramos, known for his expertise in creating high-quality skateboarding environments. The facility aims to serve as a hub for local skaters and a venue for fostering community engagement through sports. The construction was carried out by the specialized company Roig I Fills Associats, with a planned completion timeline of three and a half months, anticipating the skatepark's opening in early 2025.
