A new space dedicated to leisure, socializing, and outdoor activities has opened in the municipality of Torres Vedras. Located in the parish of São Domingos de Carmões, the Parque Verde Sérgio Gomes was inaugurated on June 10 2025, as a result of a partnership between the Torres Vedras City Council and the Parish Union of Carvoeira and Carmões. The park’s name pays tribute to Sérgio Gomes, former president of the now-extinct Parish of São Domingos de Carmões, whose commitment to the community for more than 25 years was widely recognized during the ceremony.
This new facility, designed to be inclusive and suitable for all age groups, offers a variety of features: a children’s playground, an outdoor gym, a skatepark, a picnic area, a dog park, restrooms, and a parking area that includes space for motorhomes.
The project was in preparation for three years, recalled Parish Council President Nuno Pinto. The municipal investment in Parque Verde Sérgio Gomes amounted to around €250,000, distributed across the different phases of construction.
