ABOUT SKATEPARK

Centennial Way Park South skatepark

Centennial Way Park South, located along the Centennial Way Trail between Spruce Avenue and Huntington Avenue in South San Francisco, celebrated its grand opening on September 29, 2024. This four-acre linear park offers a variety of amenities designed to cater to the community's recreational and educational needs. A notable feature of the park is the skate space, which has quickly gained popularity among skateboarders of all skill levels. Unlike traditional skate parks with half-pipes and handrails, this skate plaza offers a long stretch of flat ground with rectangular granite ledges and basic embankments, emulating an urban street skating environment. The use of granite, a material favored by skateboarders for its smoothness and durability, enhances the skating experience. The park's design was a collaborative effort, incorporating input from local residents, businesses, and city officials. The project received funding from the State of California's Clean California program, with matching funds from the City and the Department of Housing and Urban Development's Economic Development Initiative.
