The Central Park Skatepark in Sunnyside, Washington, is a relatively new addition to the city's recreational offerings. Located in Central Park, the skatepark is part of a broader effort to revitalize and modernize the park, which is the oldest in Sunnyside. The skatepark offers a variety of obstacles and features designed for skaters of all levels, making it an excellent spot for local skateboarders, BMX riders, and scooter enthusiasts.
The project to build the skatepark was completed in 2021 and funded through a combination of local city resources and community fundraising efforts. The construction aimed to provide a safe, modern space for youth and adults alike to practice and enjoy skateboarding in a supportive environment.
In addition to the skatepark, Central Park itself is equipped with several amenities, including picnic areas, a playground, a stage, restrooms, and a swimming pool with a large water slide. These features make it a popular destination for family outings and community events.
The skatepark has already become a focal point for the community, hosting local gatherings and offering a place for skaters to hone their skills. While it hasn't yet established itself as a venue for large-scale skateboarding competitions, its design and accessibility make it a strong candidate for future events.
