In June 2024, the commune of Dambach-la-Ville, located in the Bas-Rhin department of France, inaugurated a modern pumptrack facility. This initiative was driven by the local youth, particularly the Conseil Municipal des Enfants (CME), who proposed the project in 2021. Their vision was to create a dedicated space for wheeled sports enthusiasts, including BMX biking, skateboarding, rollerblading, and scootering.
Strategically situated near the local football field, the pumptrack is easily accessible to residents and visitors. Its proximity to other recreational facilities encourages a diverse range of activities within the community. The facility is open to the public free of charge, promoting inclusivity and encouraging community participation.
The project was a collaborative effort between the youth and the municipal authorities. The CME presented the idea, and the local government facilitated its realization. The total cost of the pumptrack was approximately €450,000. Funding was sourced from municipal budgets, with additional support from organizations such as the Caisse d'Allocations Familiales (CAF). The commune also anticipated receiving a grant from the Agence Nationale du Sport, particularly under programs linked to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, to cover a portion of the expenses.
