Did you know Kendallville has a lake with sandy beaches right in the heart of town? It's true — and now, right next to that lake, you’ll find the brand-new Kendallville Skatepark, nestled inside the Outdoor Recreation Complex. This awesome spot also features camping areas and cozy little cabins you can rent through the city’s website. Whether you're into swimming, kayaking, or just soaking up summer vibes, Kendallville is shaping up to be the perfect adventure destination. This skatepark has been a long time coming — over 15 years in the making — with interest rising and falling through the years. The real momentum came when Kendallville local Diane Peachy, known for her work on community projects, teamed up with skatepark advocate Ron Witham to cut through the red tape and make it happen. Big shoutout to the parks department, especially Ryan and Dawn — thanks for the rocks, the food, and all the support that brought this vision to life! The final result? A super fun, flowy park featuring a bowl with surrounding deck elements and a smooth roll-in perfect for setting up big lines. The street section is split into two distinct zones: a central plaza and a bonus leg that runs all the way out toward the parking lot. Some standouts include two stair sets, a variety of ledges and combos, bank to curb, a rock jersey barrier — and yes, the whole park is lit up at night!
