If you’ve never been to La Grange, make sure to explore the charming downtown after your session. Upper Springs Park is great for kids, and you’ll find some solid eats nearby — including a Mexican restaurant right by the train tracks and a graffiti-covered train viewing platform that’s a hidden gem. Heads up: trains roll right through the heart of downtown and can seriously slow traffic, so do yourself a favor and skate or walk from the park — trust us, it’s worth it. The skatepark is tucked into the lower portion of Springs Park — and yes, there’s an actual spring! It’s a bit of a hidden treasure, and if you look closely, you might even spot some custom artwork from the builders themselves decorating the site. The natural spring inspired many of the park’s decorative elements, including a stained concrete stamp and a creek jump that ties it all together. Local artist Matthew McDole added painted touches of local wildlife, giving the park a unique and organic vibe. Covering 9,000 square feet, the park features a flowing bowl with a mini ramp, central island, roll-in, a deep end that hits 7 feet, and long straight walls with diamond grind coping. A street extension runs the full length of the site and even stretches over the stream, creating a rad creek gap feature you won’t find just anywhere. La Grange — where nature, art, and skateboarding meet.
