The Larry Krystkowiak Skatepark in Shelby, Montana, opened in July 2021. This outdoor concrete skatepark was designed and built by Evergreen Skateparks, a company renowned for constructing high-quality, innovative skateparks across the U.S. The park features a distinctive clover-shaped bowl, which has become a favorite feature among skaters. The design was influenced by turf skateparks, offering a unique and challenging terrain for both beginners and advanced skaters.
The skatepark was made possible through contributions from the Montana Pool Service, the Montana Skatepark Association, and Larry Krystkowiak himself, a former NBA player and University of Utah basketball coach who grew up in Montana. His involvement in funding this project highlights the community-driven efforts to provide quality recreational spaces in smaller towns like Shelby.
While there are no large-scale professional events currently associated with the park, it serves as a central hub for local skaters and small community events. The park’s distinctive layout and scenic location in Montana make it a popular destination for skating enthusiasts from the region, ensuring that it remains an important spot for fostering local skateboarding culture.
