In 2023, the commune of Lieuron, located in the Ille-et-Vilaine department of Brittany, France, embarked on the development of an intergenerational recreational area aimed at fostering community engagement and promoting physical activity among residents of all ages. A central feature of this initiative is the construction of a pumptrack—a circuit designed for various wheeled sports such as bicycles, skateboards, rollerblades, and scooters.
The pumptrack was designed and constructed by P-TRACKS, a company specializing in the development of pumptrack facilities. The design includes a series of asphalted bumps and banked turns, forming a closed-loop circuit that allows users to navigate the course by generating momentum through body movements, eliminating the need for pedaling or pushing. This design caters to users of all skill levels, providing a safe and engaging environment for practicing and improving skills in various wheeled sports.
The total cost for the pumptrack construction was €124,915. The project received substantial financial support from multiple sources: Departmental Council of Ille-et-Vilaine: Granted a subsidy of €99,738.54, covering a significant portion of the project costs. Municipal Budget: The remaining funds were allocated from the commune's budget, ensuring the project's completion without exceeding financial constraints.
