ABOUT SKATEPARK

Northeast skatepark

The new skatepark replaces the old prefab park at Northeast Park, near 1-65 and the Greenwood Airport. From start to finish, the project was a collaborative effort between the Greenwood Parks Department and the community. Local riders stepped in before the park was replaced with another pre-fab, and advocated for a custom concrete creation. Northeast Skatepark was designed and built by Hunger Skateparks, with decorative elements paying tribute to the area's deep skateboarding roots. Drawing inspiration from the legacy of local crews like N-Orbit and the Greenwood Skatepark Posse, the design features the iconic ‘Greenwood Flag’ image on the flat rail, textured X’s in the steelwork, and a small jersey modeled after the 1980s N-Orbit skatepark—etched into memory for many skaters of that era. The name “Greenwood” honors both the lush green color and the wooded landscapes of Indiana. These themes come to life in the park through bold green accents and a green-stained snakeskin tile band.
