Pizzey Park Skatepark, located in Miami, Queensland, is one of the premier skateboarding destinations in Australia. Originally built around the iconic Pizzey Bowl, the park has undergone several expansions and upgrades over the years. The latest major upgrade was completed in 2022, bringing the skateable area to 3,000 square meters with features designed for Olympic-level training and competitions.
The design of the park was managed by Convic, a world-renowned skatepark design firm, and Hutchinson Builders handled much of the construction, including beginner and intermediate skating elements. The park's new features include large competition-style street obstacles like rails, hubbas, and granite ledges, which attract both professional athletes and the local skating community. The upgrades also included sustainable lighting systems designed by Schréder, ensuring safety and minimizing light pollution.
The project, valued at $1 million, was part of a broader $5.6 million investment by the City of Gold Coast to enhance the park's facilities. This has made Pizzey Park an ideal venue for competitions and a major training ground as Australia gears up for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.
Pizzey Park is now a versatile space with elements catering to all skill levels, from beginners to advanced skaters, BMX riders, and scooter enthusiasts.
