The Telluride Skatepark in Colorado is a highly regarded facility set in the scenic town of Telluride, nestled in the Rocky Mountains. The park was originally built in 2005 by Grindline Skateparks and features a classic bowl structure. In 2022, the park underwent a significant expansion with a new flow bowl and street section designed by Evergreen Skateparks, bringing the total size to 16,000 square feet.
This park offers a blend of transition and street elements, with the new flow bowl being particularly praised for its beginner-friendly design compared to the more advanced Grindline bowl. The park is known for its smooth concrete surfaces and features rails, hubbas, and a combination of bowls that cater to skaters, BMX riders, and scooter users.
The skatepark is free to use and open from dawn until dusk, although it lacks lighting for nighttime sessions. Funding for the 2022 expansion came from the town, which allocated $750,000 to upgrade the facility, making it more accessible and enjoyable for a wider range of users.
Telluride Skatepark also hosts notable events, such as the Nate Soules Memorial Skateboard Competition (SK84N8), which celebrates local skateboarding talent and brings the community together. The 2022 community celebration marked the reopening of the park, combining a ribbon-cutting ceremony with this popular competition.
