The Plata y Castañar Sports Center, located in Madrid’s Villaverde neighborhood, spans over 66,000 square meters and offers a wide range of facilities. It features both indoor and outdoor swimming pools and serves as the home ground for the Base Villaverde handball team. The center includes two indoor pools (a 25-meter pool and a teaching pool), and three outdoor pools (a 25-meter pool, a children's pool, and a recreational pool). In addition, it boasts a covered sports pavilion, a full-size soccer field and a 7-a-side field—both with artificial turf—a covered skating rink, two multi-sports courts, six tennis courts, and four paddle tennis courts. The facility also includes a multipurpose room and a space dedicated to physical therapy and hydrotherapy. With the latest expansion, the sports center broadens its offerings to include modern urban sports such as a competition bowl for skateboarding, a pumptrack, a parkour zone, and a calisthenics area. The skatepark was designed by Daniel Yábar.
