ABOUT SKATEPARK

Big Sandy Skatepark

The Big Sandy Skatepark in Montana, located in the hometown of Pearl Jam bassist Jeff Ament, was originally built in 2010. Ament funded the $40,000 project himself through his non-profit, Montana Pool Service, and continues to support the park. The skatepark features a bowl and various elements designed for all levels of skateboarders. The community holds an annual Big Sandy Skate Jam, which draws skaters from across the U.S. and raises funds for future park expansions.

The park underwent a second phase of construction by Evergreen Skateparks, adding more street-style features to complement the original bowl. This park not only provides a recreational space for local youth but also attracts visitors from neighboring areas, creating a sense of community and bringing economic benefits to the town.

Ament, a lifelong skater, has been instrumental in developing skateparks across Montana, aiming to give kids in rural areas more recreational opportunities.
