Collins Park Skatepark in Bayonne, New Jersey, opened in 2016 after the closure of the local indoor skatepark, “The Bridge,” which left a void in the community. In response, local skateshop owner Gary Iannitelli, along with a group of young skaters, approached Mayor Jimmy Davis to request the construction of a new skatepark. The project moved forward quickly, and the design and construction were handled by SpohnRanch, a leading skatepark design company.
The 7,000-square-foot concrete skatepark is located at the south end of Bayonne, under the Bayonne Bridge, offering a mix of street and transition-style elements. The park includes a mini-ramp, quarter pipes, ledges, hubbas, manual pads, and a four-stair section for practicing tricks like heel flips. The layout was designed to cater to skaters of all skill levels, with areas for both beginner and advanced riders. The park is fully fenced, has lighting for evening use, and operates from dawn to dusk.
This skatepark was built to give Bayonne’s skateboarding community a modern and dedicated space after the loss of its previous facility. The success of the project, made possible with local support and leadership from the city, has provided a valuable recreational asset for the youth of Bayonne and neighboring areas.
