Mattano Skatepark, located in Mattano Park, Elizabeth, New Jersey, was built in 2018 as part of a broader effort to revitalize the park's recreational facilities. SpohnRanch, a well-known skatepark design and construction firm, was responsible for designing and building this skatepark. The park spans 550 square meters and features a variety of street and transition elements, including an open bowl, quarterpipes, funbox, manual pad, flat rail, ledges, banks, and a mini ramp. The skatepark is made entirely of concrete, ensuring durability and an optimal riding surface for skaters of all skill levels.
The skatepark is part of a series of upgrades to Mattano Park, which also includes new turf fields, a sprinkler playground, and Union County’s first playground designed specifically for children with special needs. The skatepark itself is considered a valuable addition to the community, offering a space for skateboarding and BMX enthusiasts to practice and develop their skills.
The funding for this project was part of Union County’s ongoing commitment to improving public parks and providing modern recreational amenities for local residents. These improvements have turned Mattano Park into a multipurpose public space, offering something for everyone in the community.
