DiGiorgio Action Park, located in Arvin, California, opened in 2017. It was designed and constructed by SpohnRanch, a prominent skatepark design and construction firm. The 7,000-square-foot park is made of concrete and includes a variety of street and transition elements, such as a hubba, jump box, quarterpipe, funbox, manual pad, handrails, ledges, and a bowl. These features provide diverse challenges for skaters of all skill levels.
The park was made possible through significant community support, with funding assistance from The Skatepark Project (formerly known as the Tony Hawk Foundation) and additional support from organizations such as The California Endowment and Building Healthy Communities. The total investment aimed to offer Arvin's youth a safe and engaging recreational space, an essential addition to a city with limited amenities for young people.
The youth of Arvin played a critical role in advocating for the park, leading the movement to bring a dedicated skatepark to their community. Their efforts were recognized during the grand opening in 2017, with local officials celebrating their contributions and the park's successful completion. Since its opening, DiGiorgio Action Park has become a popular spot, used heavily by the local skateboarding community, even before its official launch.
