George Lane Skatepark, located in Quartz Hill, California, is a well-designed 15,000-square-foot facility built by Spohn Ranch. The park officially opened in August 2019, making it one of Los Angeles County's top skateboarding destinations. This skatepark was created to replace an underutilized area in George Lane Park, and it provides a variety of terrain styles suitable for skaters of all levels.
The skatepark features several key elements, including a 5-7.5 foot deep bowl, a snake run that caters to beginners, and various street obstacles like stairs, grind rails, and manual pads. The layout was carefully planned to preserve existing trees, creating a visually appealing and shaded environment for both skaters and spectators. Amenities such as seating, a shaded area, a drinking fountain, and bike racks were added, elevating the park to a world-class standard. Additionally, a state-of-the-art lighting system ensures that the park can be used in the evenings.
The project was part of a broader initiative by Los Angeles County to improve recreational spaces, and it followed the successful construction of another skatepark at the Castaic Sports Complex. Funding for the park came from public sources, particularly Los Angeles County’s Department of Parks and Recreation, and the design-build services were fully managed by Spohn Ranch.
This new skatepark is designed to serve the diverse community of Quartz Hill and surrounding areas, providing a safe and engaging space for skateboarders, BMX riders, and other action sports enthusiasts. The project’s thoughtful design and high-quality construction ensure it will remain a cornerstone of local recreation for years to come.
