Harbor City Skatepark, located in Harbor City, California, is a modern skate facility built by Spohn Ranch Skateparks and officially opened in 2019. The park occupies 11,000 square feet within Harbor City Park and was designed to blend street and transition skating features, making it suitable for skaters of all skill levels. The park includes a three-lobed bowl, quarter pipes, banks, stairs, rails, hubbas, and a street plaza with manual pads and ledges.
The project was funded and spearheaded by the City of Los Angeles, specifically through the Department of Recreation and Parks, with support from local community groups and Councilman Joe Buscaino. The design was shaped by input from the local skateboarding community, ensuring it met their needs while also creating a durable, engaging space for skaters.
Before the skatepark was constructed, the site was an underutilized area in the park. The introduction of the skatepark revitalized this space, creating a vibrant recreational hub for local youth. The park offers lighting for evening sessions and is open from 8 AM to 9 PM.
Overall, Harbor City Skatepark stands as a significant addition to the Los Angeles area's skatepark offerings, combining thoughtful design and community involvement to create a dynamic, long-lasting space for action sports enthusiasts.
