Lake Cunningham Action Sports Park, located in San Jose, California, is the largest skatepark in the state, covering a vast 68,000 square feet. The park officially opened in April 2008 and was designed by Wormhoudt Inc., a renowned skatepark design firm that has been involved in numerous iconic skateparks. The park features some of the most advanced skateboarding terrain in the world, including the largest full pipe, cradle, and vert wall in California. These elements are complemented by a wide array of bowls, ledges, and a well-equipped street section, making the park ideal for both beginners and experienced skaters.
The construction of the park was funded by the City of San Jose as part of a broader initiative to enhance recreational opportunities in the region. The park was built within Lake Cunningham Regional Park and was developed to cater to various action sports, including BMX and scootering, in addition to skateboarding. Visitors are required to pay a small admission fee, along with parking fees, to access the park. Additionally, safety gear such as helmets and pads is mandatory, ensuring a secure environment for all users.
The park is also known for hosting various contests and events, further solidifying its reputation as a premier destination for action sports in Northern California. Over the years, Lake Cunningham has become a major attraction for skaters and BMX riders alike, drawing visitors from all over the region.
