The Robert Gumbiner Skatepark, also known as the Gumbiner Skate Spot, is a small concrete skatepark located in Long Beach, California. It was designed and built by SpohnRanch in 2017 and covers an area of about 3,000 square feet. The skatepark was developed as part of a broader urban revitalization effort in the downtown Long Beach area.
The park features a mix of street-style obstacles, including a taco-shaped quarter pipe, flat bar, bank-to-bank gap, ledges, and a kicker. These elements make it suitable for both beginners and intermediate skaters, offering a space to practice basic tricks or warm up before hitting more challenging street spots around the city. Despite its small size, the park's design focuses on a smooth flow, encouraging skaters to move seamlessly from one obstacle to another.
The park is open from dawn to dusk and does not have lighting for nighttime use. It is located at 609 Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, in a neighborhood known for its cultural diversity, adding to the skatepark's community-oriented appeal.
The Robert Gumbiner Skatepark serves as both a recreational space and a symbol of urban renewal, reflecting Long Beach's commitment to accessible and inclusive public spaces for action sports enthusiasts.
