The Schieplaza Skatepark in Schiedam, Netherlands, is a unique concrete skatepark that was built in 2015 by SkateOn Skateparks, a leading company specializing in concrete skatepark construction. The park is known for its downhill design, built on the roof of a metro station, which gives it a continuous slope of around 4%. This feature allows skaters to effortlessly roll downhill, making it one of the most distinctive skateparks in the Netherlands.
The design of the park is inspired by the famous China Banks skate spot in San Francisco, with a layout that includes a variety of street and transition obstacles. The park offers a hubba, manual pads, handrails, and ledges, which cater to skaters looking for a technical street experience. Additionally, the park's long, narrow shape accommodates a dynamic flow for users.
Schieplaza was funded and developed as part of Schiedam's commitment to providing recreational spaces for youth and sports enthusiasts, and its integration into the urban environment has made it a key destination for both local skaters and visitors. The park’s location on the intersection of Burgemeester van Haarenlaan and 's-Gravelandseweg is close to public transport, adding to its accessibility.
No significant renovations have been reported since its opening, but the park remains well-maintained and popular with skaters.
