Stockwell Skatepark, also known as "Brixton Bowls" or "Brixton Beach," is a historic concrete skatepark located at the corner of Stockwell Park Walk and Stockwell Road in the London Borough of Lambeth. Established in 1978, it stands as one of London's oldest skateparks and has been a central hub for skateboarders, BMX riders, and roller skaters for decades.
Designed by Lorne Edwards, the park is renowned for its unique, flowing concrete landscape that offers a variety of features. Over the years, Stockwell Skatepark has undergone several refurbishments to maintain its structure and adapt to the evolving needs of its users: The park received a red composite polymer-modified screed overlay, giving it a distinctive red surface in 1998. A significant resurfacing introduced new features, including the bowled corner in 2008. In 2022 a £500,000 renovation led by Lambeth Council and executed by Betongpark restored the park's red surface and added modern features, such as a quarter-pipe along the northern wall. This project was a collaborative effort with the local community, particularly the Friends of Stockwell Skatepark group.
