ABOUT SKATEPARK

Bowes Lyon skatepark

Bowes Lyon Skatepark, located in Stevenage, Hertfordshire, was constructed in 1978 during the initial surge of skateboarding popularity in the UK. This makes it one of the country's oldest surviving skateparks.

Over the decades, Bowes Lyon Skatepark has been a central hub for the skateboarding community, hosting numerous events and professional demonstrations. Notably, in 1988, the park was a venue for the 'Powell Peralta' tour, featuring renowned skateboarders such as Steve Caballero and Lance Mountain.

Despite its historical significance, the skatepark has faced threats of demolition due to urban development plans. In response, local advocates have initiated petitions to preserve this cultural landmark, emphasizing its importance to both the local and broader skateboarding communities.
